Description
TSST TS-H552B latest firmware version is TS12. Some of you may wonder what is the differences of TS12 firmware different from previous version. The answer is there if no different. Really that is what I found on TSST website about this TS12 version for TS-H552B.
However, like what I always stress: keep your driver and firmware up to date!. So I suggest you to flash your TSST TS-H552B to TS12 if your firmware is older than TS12.
As the firmware file is in zip format, please unzip it first to its original format which is TS-H552B_TS12.bin
This is a must read for those who has never flash TSST firmware before. You will need to read the readme and download the Windows firmware update program, SFDNWin.exe. For details read TSST CD DVDW Firmware Update Readme and Program. Pay special caution to the firmware version and do not switch off/restart your pc BEFORE the firmware update finish properly.

Please be noted this update is intended for TSSTCorp TS-H552B and not for TS-H552D. As both models are different so I do not know if the driver is compatible for each other or not.

I’ve already downloaded the scanner, but can not get to the actual driver anywhere on this page. It is tsstcorp cd dvdw ts h552b
Where is the actual download button or link for the updated driver (TS-H552B_TS12.bin)? This page here references the updated driver for the TSSTcorp TS-H552B drive is TS-H552B_TS12.zip but there is NO download button for this file on this web page. I currently have driver number TS00 so I would like to update my driver to the TS12 driver so I will be able to record on this drive. Every link that this page has takes you to an advertisement for a driver scanning software program…not the actual driver itself. I downloaded the SFDNwin.exe file that the instructions say you need to have but when I launch that program it then asks for the TS-H552B_TS12.bin file which is suppose to be in your zip file listed on this page. I can launch the sfdnwin.exe file but I cannot download the .bin file I need because I don’t have it on my computer. I am looking for the link or web address where I can download the actual .bin file which apparently is the actual driver update. I have googled TS-H552B_TS12.bin but have not found the site that has the ACTUAL DRIVER on it. Please help me. Please send your response to my e-mail address which I listed for you above. Today is 11/18/08. Please respond as soon as you can so I can update my drive. Thank you!
PS–Please note none of your links listed on this page takes you to a download of the actual updated driver. They all take you to advertisements for other types of software. In particular your link listed above that says “Download TSSTCorp TS-H552B CD/DVDW firmware update here” which by its statement leads you to believe you will be taken to a site to download the updated driver does NOT, in fact, take you to a site from which you can download the updated driver. dear sir i have had my cd/dvdw ts-h552d checked out and its not working and needs replacing could you tell me please if its a sata type or pata type i need to purchase as a replacement

to everyone having trouble finding the download link for this driver, look below the driver details for the line “Download TSSTCorp TS-H552B CD-DVDW Firmware Update
here” and click on the word “here”. it will bring open a new window. in the new window, scroll down until you see “Download TSSTCorp TS-H552B CD-DVDW Firmware Update” and click that link. it will open yet another window (ridiculous, i know) and take you to rapidshare where you FINALLY get to download the driver. choose free user (don’t worry, the download is quick) and there you go.
I have a TS-H552B (Sept 2005) that *had* F/W version GA04. After updating the firmware to TS12, it now burns DVD’s @12x instead of 16x. How do I regain 16x speed? I’m running Vista Ultimate with sp2. Oh… it started to burn coasters ONLY when I used DVD+R’s. DVD-R’s work just fine. I use 16x DVD’s also.
