Description

This driver is provided by a Huawei Staff on Huawei support forum. First I tried to find the driver file from the main support page but I could not find any. The Huawei support forum is the only source we can get supports for this E1550 and other Huawei wireless modems.

For Windows 7 users you will have to follow some specific steps in order to install the E1550 driver successfully:

1. Important: Do not plug in the Huawei E1550 into the USB yet.
2. Download and unzip the driver file Huawei_E1550_Drivers.zip.
3. Uninstall all the previous version driver for Huawei E1550. Go to c:\Huawei_E1550_Drivers\Windows\ and run DriverUninstall.exe
4. From the PDF:

   Open the Windows Task manager, and you can find a process DriverUninstall.exe. Waiting for 1-2 minutes, this process will disappear. That means we have uninstalled the former driver.

   So I assume this DriverUninstall.exe does not have any user interface and you have to look into Windows Task manager to find whether it is running and when it have finished running.

5. Run DriverSetup.exe, still a Windowless program from Huawei. Wait 1-2 minutes.
6. After that, we can now insert our Huawei E1550 USB modem into the PC and Windows will start to detect the new device. When prompted, do not install the ddashboard program. Then the correct driver will be installed.
