Description
If you are having PCI to PCMCIA bridge driver problem on your Thinkpad X61 (and other similar models such as T61, T61p, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet and X300), you can actually try to install the AMT driver from Intel.
The problem arose when you try to enable Intel Active Management Technology(AMT) in BIOS. After you enabled the AMT and login to Windows, you may encounter a few new entries in Device Manager saying:
- "new hardware found
- "PCI Serial Port"
- "PCI Simple Communications Controller"
If you are not making use of any of the features above, you can actually disable the AMT function inside the BIOS and the problem will not bother you. However if you choose to install the driver, Intel AMT driver is what you are going to need.
AMT (Active Management Technology) according to Intel is a technology that built-in platform capabilities and popular third-party management and security applications, Intel AMT allows IT to better discover, heal, and protect their networked computing assets.
